We have recently purchased new books, some of these titles are on the recently released long list for the Carnegie Medal, a prize for the best children’s novel.
“When the World Was Ours” is by Liz Kessler, the daughter of Southport resident Harry Kessler. He is a Holocaust survivor who was awarded the British Empire Medal in January 2022. This book is based on his story. “Jummy at the River School ” is a debut novel set in a boarding school in Nigeria.
“Pony” is by RJ Palacio, an American writer who set her first book, “Wonder”, in New York. This one takes place in the American West. All these books are available for members to borrow or reserve.
