To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, The Big Jubilee Read is a thrilling booklist which brings together a work of fiction for every year of Her Majesty’s reign. This celebration of great books by authors from across the Commonwealth was compiled by a panel of librarians, booksellers and literature specialists from a long list of readers’ suggestions. It is a campaign promoting the pleasure of reading for all ages and recognises the ability books have to connect people.

The books are compiled in decades from the 1950’s to the 2020’s. Many of the books on the list are Booker Prize Winners. You can view the complete booklist at https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/2022/big-jubilee-read-70-titles

All the books on our shelves are donated and we have some really great titles which feature on The Big Jubilee Read including Tinker, Tailor, Solider, Spy – John Le Carre (1974 England), Wolf Hall – Hilary Mantel (2009 England) and The English Patient – Michael Ondaatje (1992 Canada/Sri Lanka). Why not pop into The Station Master’s House and select a story you might not otherwise have considered.
