We have an important date to mark in the calendar: on 23rd July we shall be celebrating our first anniversary as a fully-functional community hub and library in Birkdale.

Looking back, it’s encouraging to remember what we have achieved: over 60 volunteers recruited, more than 900 readers registered to use our library, 5000 books catalogued with more planned, the computer suite installed and operational, the building working well, with full disabled access throughout, and a social calendar of regular events and classes created for volunteers and the general public, all with the objective of improving the well-being of the local community.

Thanks go to all those who have supported our charity and, of course, a special thank-you to all our Volunteers who have made this remarkable progress possible through their hard work and regular gifts of time.

To mark the day we will be holding an Open Morning between 10.00am and 1.00pm, with a range of activities for families and children, including a Lego challenge, Village treasure hunt and children’s games. Story time for children up to 4 years will be held as usual from 10.30 – 11.15 am.

Our popular book stall will be there too, so please come along to see us, have a look around, especially at the newly planted outside area at the back of the house, and help us celebrate this great achievement.
