Summer holidays give us lots of time for reading if we’re lucky enough and our summer book tree is a great way of engaging children in their reading.
All school age children are invited to take part by reading 6 books from our library over the holiday, then putting the name of a book on one of the paper leaves provided and writing a few lines or drawing a picture inspired by the book they’ve read. These will then be displayed on the book tree in the library.
Those taking part can choose a small mystery prize from our lucky dip for each book leaf they complete and will also receive a certificate in September.
We have a fantastic selection of books for children and young adults at the library, with new titles and many old favourites, the book tree is a great way for both you and the children to look back at the end of the holidays and see their achievements.
