We hope you are all keeping safe during the festive period. We have been working hard so here’s a quick update on progress at the Station Master’s House,
- The very extensive House renovations are complete and the building now looks very smart with new carpets. It has been painted and decorated, and is now being equipped. The House has large library area downstairs, with a small kitchenette and disabled toilet at the rear. The small outside courtyard has largely not been touched yet, but work has been now commissioned from our builder William Scott to renovate it. Upstairs are two meeting rooms, one larger and one smaller, plus a computer room. All of the rooms have network connections and there is wi-fi throughout the building.
- We have eight fast Intel i5 based Windows computers, with 8GB of RAM and speedy SSD drives for use by volunteers and the public (when we are able to fully open)
- Our professional librarians have been cataloguing books in our Library Management System supplied by Bailey Solutions, and preparing the operating procedures to train volunteers
- We have two volunteer managers, Ian and Tim, who have made a immediate impact making sure we obtain the furniture we need, organising our volunteers, ensuring we have Covid safe measures and running online events
Please check out our “Twelve tales for Christmas” children’s stories on this page. We are also intending to provide an online click-and-collect service for book loans early in 2021, we’ll provide more news on this on the website nearer the time.
Have a great Christmas and New Year!
