Though not part of the Station Master’s House library project, we’d like to give a shout out to another long standing local organisation, The Birkdale Civic Society. The society was formed in 1983 to promote Birkdale and assist in providing facilities that will benefit residents and visitors alike.

Perhaps the most easily seen part of the group’s activities is maintenance of the flower beds in Birkdale Village (including Abbey gardens) and the railway station premises. The Society are now relaunching the group with a meeting on March 6th 2019 at 6:30pm at the Birkdale Conservative Club (please note that this venue is chosen solely because of its central position in the village). We would encourage anyone who is interested in learning about, promoting and developing our local area to attend.
